You are the calling card of VBZ and characterise the cityscape of Zurich. On 15 different lines, in four different types of tram, you travel through the city and transport passengers from all over the world. You enjoy travelling through Zurich at all times of the year and day. So there is plenty of variety.
You provide friendly information and assistance to passengers who are unfamiliar with the area and in the event of irregularities on the network. This can also be stressful from time to time, and sometimes the tone is a little rough in Zurich. But there is often also unexpected praise, a small thank you and the good feeling of having helped someone. It’s the little moments that make your job so special in the midst of turbulent city life.
The job as a tramp pilot is a career changer. It doesn’t matter what training or profession you previously had. The only important thing is that you already have work experience. Whether you are a hairdresser, banker or retail employee (to name just three possible professions), everyone is welcome at the front of the tram.
Be aware that you have a lot of responsibility, or perhaps better said, you drive: you are responsible for up to 200 passengers, for other road users and for our vehicles.
Do you want to contribute to the charm of the most beautiful city in the world? Then join the front line and apply now. German is our primary language of operation, so it is very important that you understand and speak German. The rest of the application process is in German.
Your salary will be between CHF 68,000 and CHF 79,000 per year for a 100% position.
You will receive the full starting salary during your training period.
In addition, you will receive allowances for night and Sunday shifts and catering. These amount to around CHF 440 per month.
And that’s not all. After a successful first year on the rails, you can expect a significant pay rise. Your future salary development depends on the annual performance appraisals and the financial situation of the City of Zurich.
